As an Arizona state charter school, Desert Star is not eligible to receive state funds to acquire, build, maintain or remodel our facility. In the last two years, the work and commitment of many dedicated individuals in our community was essential in obtaining a site for the school. Charter schools are also at a disadvantage as opposed to district schools because they are not able to participate in general school district bond issues or access override funds. There is also a lack of government funding available to charter schools for special education, business/financial services, administrative and custodial services, all of which is available to district schools. Charter schools must depend on your continued financial support to survive.
Desert
Star is non-profit 501(c) 3 corporation, so all donations
are tax deductible. A donation packet for our Capital
Campaign Fundraising Program is available at the school
office. We are grateful for the financial assistance we
have received so far from so many, and look forward to
a bright future at Desert Star. We welcome your participation
in bringing this vision of quality, free-of-cost, whole-child
learning to the children of the Verde Valley.
Fundraising events at Desert Star include benefit music
concerts, our Art Under the Stars silent auction and the
Annual May Faire.
Desert Star wishes you and yours a wonder-filled holiday
season. Thank you to all who made our Thanksgiving Program
such a lovely event.
